Sonu Nigam reacts strongly to his fake profile chatting with Lok Sabha member from Bengaluru

One of Bollywood’s most famous playback singers of the 21st century, Sonu Nigam, has lost his cool over a fake X (formerly Twitter) profile chatting with a Member of the Lok Sabha, Tejasvi Surya, from Bengaluru. The ‘Jeene Ke Hain Chaar Din’ singer lashed out at the media for not realising that the account was fake and falsely quoting him following the Kannada language row.

Screenshots of the tweets were shared by Mr Nigam on his official Instagram.

On Thursday, May 22, 2025, Sonu Nigam lashed out at the media for falsely quoting him over an imposter’s interaction with Member of the Lok Sabha, Tejasvi Surya, on X (formerly Twitter). The screenshot showed the imposter indulging in a debate with Surya, following Mr Nigam’s Kannada language controversy. A post shared by Tejasvi Surya read:

“This behaviour by @TheOfficialSBI Branch Manager is simply not acceptable. If you are doing customer interface work in Karnataka, especially in a sector like banking , it is important to communicate to customers in the language they know. Being adamant like this is simply not right. I have time and again raised this issue of mandatorily posting local staff or staff who know the local language in banking operations, both inside and outside Parliament.”

He added, “Just a few weeks ago, at a Public Accounts Committee meeting, I had raised this issue to the DFS Secretary who assured me action will be taken to follow a office notification that makes this requirement of local language knowledge compulsory. Looks like this still isn’t being enforced properly. I urge the concerned at @TheOfficialSBI to immediately implement the DFS policy that mandates local language requirement.”

The post concluded with Mr Surya saying, “I have spoken to concerned authorities to take action against this manager who has behaved in this manner. Banks working in Karnataka should serve customers in Kannada. Period.”

Sonu Nigam slams media for falsely quoting him

Sonu Nigam’s imposter account quoted the aforementioned tweet by Tejasvi Surya, and wrote, “Don’t dub Kannada movies in Hindi! Don’t release Kannada movies pan-India! Do you have the guts to say this to Kannada film stars, Mr. @Tejasvi_Surya , or you are just another language warrior?” The tweet led some media houses to falsely mistake the account as the singer’s official.
